River Access

The slipway at Tay RC is a private slipway and is fully located within land leased by Tay RC.

The landowners position is that there is no public access to the river at that point. Tay RC Planning Permission includes a condition that vehicular access to the slipway is restricted by bollards.

As leaseholders, Tay RC have unrestricted use of the slipway. Tay RC use of the river is governed by Perth Harbour Bylaws, which, subject to certain conditions, allow the use of our rowing boats and our safety / coaching launch.

Under the Scottish Access Code there is a general right of access to the river. This code is covered by the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003. The code specifically excludes the following.

  • Hunting , shooting or fishing.
  • Any form of motorised recreation or passage (except by people with a disability using a vehicle
or vessel adapted for their use).
  • Anyone responsible for a dog which is not under proper control.

Vehicles

Vehicular access to Tay RC is by a private road in the ownership of Scottish Water. There is therefore no right of vehicular access by the general public.

Hunting, Shooting, or Fishing

Permission for hunting shooting or fishing lies with the landowner, not Tay RC.
