Castle Semple treated us to a glorious day of rowing on the 17th May, with warm sunshine from start to finish and just the occasional pleasant breeze, perfect racing conditions and a welcome change from the usual unpredictability.
Our club was well represented with four boats entered: the Open R2 Quad, Open R2 Double, Women’s Novice Masters Four, and Women’s R2 Double. All crews gave it their all, with standout performances and personal bests across the board.
The highlight of the day came from our Women’s Novice Masters Four, who powered their way to a fantastic second place in their event, a well-earned result and a real boost for the squad.
There was plenty of laughter (and a bit of tongue-in-cheek moaning) directed at a few of our more “experienced” members, whose past glories meant we couldn’t enter Novice categories!
For many, this was their first-ever regatta, and they rose to the challenge brilliantly. A day of racing to be proud of, great team spirit, and memories made in the sunshine, roll on the next one!
